Section 01
What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device — computer, tablet, or smartphone — when you visit. They allow the website to recognise your device on subsequent visits and remember certain information about your session.
Cookies serve different purposes. Some are strictly necessary for a website to function. Others are used to understand how visitors use a site so that its owners can improve it. We use cookies only for the latter analytical purpose and for the essential operation of the site.
Cookies do not give us access to your device, and they cannot carry viruses or install malware.
Section 02
How We Use Cookies
Prime Growth Capital Partners uses cookies on www.pgcp.co.za for two purposes only:
- Essential operation: To ensure the website loads and functions correctly for every visitor. These cookies do not track you and contain no personally identifiable information.
- Analytics: To understand, in aggregate, how visitors navigate our site — which pages attract the most interest, how long visitors stay, and where they come from. This helps us improve the quality and relevance of our content. We use Google Analytics for this purpose.
We do not use cookies for advertising, retargeting, or behavioural profiling.
We do not use cookies to identify you as an individual or to track you across other websites.
We do not sell cookie data or share it with third parties for commercial purposes.
Section 03
Cookie Inventory
The table below lists all cookies currently set by www.pgcp.co.za and explains what each one does.
| Cookie Name | Provider | Type | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics | Analytics | Distinguishes unique visitors by assigning a randomly generated number. Used to calculate visit, session, and campaign data for site analytics reports. | 2 years |
| _ga_[ID] | Google Analytics | Analytics | Maintains session state and tracks pageviews within a session for Google Analytics 4 (GA4). | 2 years |
| _gid | Google Analytics | Analytics | Distinguishes users during a single day. Stores and updates a unique value for each page visited. | 24 hours |
| _gat | Google Analytics | Analytics | Throttles the request rate to limit data collection on high-traffic sites. Not used when Google Tag Manager is in place. | 1 minute |
| Session cookies | pgcp.co.za | Essential | Temporary cookies that enable the website to function during your visit. Deleted automatically when you close your browser. | Session end |
We will update this inventory promptly if we add or remove any cookies from our website.
Section 04
Google Analytics in Detail
We use Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google LLC. Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information about how visitors use our site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of www.pgcp.co.za is transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States.
We have enabled IP anonymisation on our Google Analytics implementation. This means that Google truncates your IP address before it is stored, so your precise location cannot be determined from the data we collect.
The data we receive from Google Analytics is aggregated and does not identify you as an individual. We use it only to understand broad traffic patterns — for example, which pages on our site are most visited, and whether visitors arrive via search engines, direct links, or referrals.
Google's processing of data collected through Google Analytics is governed by Google's Privacy Policy, available at policies.google.com/privacy.
Google acts as a data processor on our behalf for analytics purposes. We have accepted Google's data processing terms consistent with our obligations under POPIA section 21.
You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, available at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
Section 05
Third-Party Cookies
Beyond Google Analytics, we do not knowingly permit third-party cookies to be set through our website. In particular:
- We do not use social media tracking pixels (including Meta Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, or Twitter/X Pixel)
- We do not use advertising network cookies or demand-side platform trackers
- We do not embed third-party content that sets persistent tracking cookies
If you arrive at our site via a link from a social media platform or third-party website, that platform may have set its own cookies on your device before you arrived. We have no control over, or responsibility for, those cookies. Please refer to the respective platform's cookie or privacy policy for details.
Section 06
Your Choices & How to Opt Out
You have several options for controlling cookies on our website and more broadly across your browser:
Google Analytics Opt-Out
Install the official Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. This prevents Google Analytics from collecting data about your visits to any website that uses it, including ours.
Browser-Level Cookie Controls
All modern browsers allow you to view, block, or delete cookies through their settings. Instructions for the most common browsers are below:
Please note that blocking or deleting essential cookies may affect the normal functioning of our website. Blocking analytics cookies will not affect your ability to use any feature of the site.
Section 07
Cookie Retention Periods
Cookie retention periods are set out in the inventory in Section 03. As a general principle:
- Session cookies expire when you close your browser and are not stored persistently on your device
- Persistent cookies (Google Analytics cookies) are stored on your device for the periods indicated in the inventory, unless you delete them earlier through your browser settings
- Data collected via Google Analytics is retained in our Google Analytics account for a maximum of 26 months, after which it is automatically deleted
Section 08
Changes to This Policy
We review this Cookie Policy at least annually and whenever we make a material change to our use of cookies. The effective date at the top of this document reflects the most recent revision.
If we introduce new categories of cookies or third-party tracking tools, we will update this policy and the cookie inventory in Section 03 before deploying them on the website.
We encourage you to review this page periodically to stay informed about how we use cookies.
